The newly announced Pokemon Champions is set to deliver thrilling online Pokemon battles to Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.  Revealed during the latest Pokemon Day event, the game focuses on competitive battling, reminiscent of titles like Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Battle Revolution.

While an exact release date remains unconfirmed, Pokemon Champions is anticipated to launch sometime in 2025 or potentially later.  The game will feature online multiplayer with three distinct modes: Ranked Battles, Casual Battles, and Private Battles.  

One potential drawback for fans is the confirmed limited Pokemon roster at launch.  While the exact number of available Pokemon is yet to be revealed, the announcement trailer showcased Dondozo, Charizard, Hisuian Samurott, and Aegislash.  Players can also transfer select Pokemon from Pokemon Home, including those from Pokemon GO and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Adding another layer of strategic depth, Pokemon Champions will incorporate both Mega Evolutions and the terastalization mechanic.  Mega Evolutions empower specific Pokemon with powerful transformations, while terastalization encases Pokemon in crystal, either boosting their current type or granting them a new one. This combination promises exciting and unpredictable battles.
