Marvel Snap Returns to US App Stores with Compensation Packages After Temporary Ban

2025-01-27 02:17:58

Marvel Snap is compensating players worldwide following a period of unavailability in the United States earlier this month. US players will receive additional rewards due to the complete service disruption caused by a temporary ban.

The game's publisher, Nuverse, is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, which also owns TikTok. ByteDance has been under scrutiny in US politics, leading to the Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, which specifically named ByteDance as an adversary.  This resulted in a temporary ban on Marvel Snap in the US on January 19th.

Looking ahead to 2025, Marvel Snap is poised for a strong year, with developers hinting at exciting updates for the community.

The ban on ByteDance has been temporarily lifted, and Marvel Snap has returned to US app stores.  Developer Second Dinner addressed the disruption in a recent Twitter post, outlining compensation for lost time, rewards, and missions.  US players who logged in within 30 days of the outage will receive one of two US Downtime Packages based on their Collection Level (above or below 500).

Players with a Collection Level above 500 will receive two Spotlight Keys, 4,150 Credits, 6,200 Collector’s Tokens, five Gold Conquest Tickets, three Infinite Conquest Tickets, 4,000 Conquest Medals, three Cosmic Gold Borders, 1,000 Gold, a Mystery Variant, six Premium Mystery Variants, a Cosmic Red Border, and 155 x5 Random Boosters.  Players below level 500 will receive six Mystery Series 3 Cards, 7,150 Credits, three Cosmic Gold Borders, 1,000 Gold, a Mystery Variant, six Premium Mystery Variants, a Cosmic Red Border, and 155 x5 Random Boosters.

Global players will also receive a Gratitude Package. Those above Collection Level 500 will receive two Spotlight Keys, 3,000 Collector’s Tokens, 1,500 Credits, a Mystery Variant, a Premium Mystery Variant, a Cosmic Gold Border, a Cosmic Red Border, and 155 x3 Random Boosters.  Those below 500 will receive six Mystery Series 3 Cards, 3,000 Credits, a Mystery Variant, a Premium Mystery Variant, a Cosmic Gold Border, a Cosmic Red Border, and 155 x3 Random Boosters.

To prevent future disruptions, Second Dinner is bringing more development services in-house and seeking a new publisher to distance itself from ByteDance.
