The popular extraction RPG, Dark and Darker, has been removed from the Epic Games Store. This delisting comes in the wake of ongoing legal issues between developer Ironmace and Nexon.

The dispute centers around allegations that Ironmace misappropriated assets from a canceled Nexon project, codenamed P3, and used them in the development of Dark and Darker. While a South Korean court dismissed copyright infringement claims, Ironmace was ordered to pay Nexon substantial damages for using the stolen assets.

Ironmace confirmed the delisting in a Discord post, attributing it to "claims made by opposing parties in an ongoing legal dispute."  The Epic Games Store appears to have acted in response to these claims.

Interestingly, while the standard free-to-play version of Dark and Darker is no longer available, the paid expansion, 'Dark and Darker - Legendary Status,' remains accessible on the Epic Games Store.  This discrepancy may be due to the paid nature of the expansion and its recent distribution as a free offering to EGS users.

The game continues to be available on Steam, but its future on the platform remains uncertain given the ongoing legal battle.  The recent US release of Dark and Darker Mobile signaled a potentially strong year for the game, but the legal challenges create significant uncertainty about its future development and availability.

This situation casts a shadow over the future of Dark and Darker.  While the game maintains a dedicated player base, the legal proceedings and delisting from the Epic Games Store represent a major setback. The outcome of the ongoing legal battle will likely determine the long-term fate of this promising dungeon-crawler RPG.
