Sony Restructures PlayStation Leadership: Nishino Takes Full Control
2025-01-29 21:13:39Sony announced a significant restructuring of its PlayStation leadership today. Effective April 1, 2025, Hideaki Nishino will assume the role of President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).
This move streamlines the leadership structure established last year, which saw Nishino overseeing the platform business and Hermen Hulst managing the studios in a somewhat convoluted dual CEO arrangement. While Hulst will no longer serve as co-CEO of SIE, he retains his position as head of PlayStation Studios. He will continue to oversee the development, publishing, and business operations of SIE's first-party content, including collaborations with PlayStation Productions. Hulst will now report directly to Nishino.
With this transition, Hideaki Nishino ascends to become the sole CEO of SIE, solidifying his leadership within the PlayStation division.
In addition to Nishino's appointment, Hiroki Totoki will step down as Chairman of SIE to take on the role of President and CEO of Sony Group Corporation. Furthermore, Lin Tao, currently Senior Vice President of Finance, Corporate Development, and Strategy at PlayStation, will transition to the position of Chief Financial Officer at Sony Group Corporation. A successor for Tao at SIE will be announced later.
