The First Berserker: Khazan Launch Marred by Stat Reset Bug

Neople, the developer of the upcoming Soulslike action RPG The First Berserker: Khazan, has issued a warning to players regarding a potentially game-impacting bug related to stat resets. The bug is currently affecting players utilizing a specific in-game item, the Primeval Regression Orb, while equipped with the pre-order armor set.  The game is set to fully launch on March 27, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The First Berserker: Khazan has garnered significant attention within the action gaming community for its distinctive blend of grim dark fantasy aesthetics and vibrant cel-shaded visuals.  The game's challenging, Soulslike combat has further amplified anticipation for its release.

The bug, reported via a Steam page update, centers around the Primeval Regression Orb, an item designed to reset a player's level and stats.  This feature, commonly known as a 'respec,' is a staple in RPGs, allowing players to reallocate stats and refine their character builds. However, players using the Orb while wearing the Hero's Weapon and Armor set (included in pre-orders) may experience unintended stat loss.

The primary issue lies in the pre-order armor set's inherent +5 bonus to all stats. When combined with the Primeval Regression Orb, this bonus can cause the game to incorrectly recalculate stats, resulting in a net loss of points upon reset.  Additionally, the bug can lead to inaccurate stat displays on the status screen, affecting the cost of upgrades using the in-game Lacrima resource.  In some cases, stats can even fall below the minimum value of 10.

Neople has provided a temporary workaround, advising players to avoid using the Primeval Regression Orb repeatedly.  They recommend completing missions, changing locations, or even restarting the game between Orb uses to ensure accurate stat calculations. The studio is actively working on a permanent solution and has promised to update players when it's available.

Despite this pre-release setback, Neople's proactive communication and swift response to the bug is a positive sign.  Their commitment to addressing player concerns and providing workarounds demonstrates a dedication to ensuring a smooth launch and positive player experience for The First Berserker: Khazan.
