Infinite Nikki Confirmed for Steam Deck Compatibility, Desktop Linux Support Uncertain
2025-03-27 12:17:12While a Steam release date remains unannounced, Papergames has confirmed ongoing development for Steam Deck compatibility for their upcoming title, Infinite Nikki, bringing joy to handheld gaming enthusiasts.
In communication with GamingOnLinux founder Liam Dawe, developers revealed that "the team is currently working on Steam Deck compatibility, and further updates will be shared when available." Although details are scarce, this official confirmation is exciting news given the handheld's popularity.
However, support for desktop Linux systems remains unconfirmed and potentially problematic. Infinite Nikki utilizes the Anti-Cheat Expert (ACE) system, known for its specific mechanisms. Based on experiences with titles like Delta Force: Hawk Ops and UNCHAIN, ACE seems to employ a device-level whitelist for the Steam Deck. This allows the games to run on the Deck while remaining incompatible with regular Linux desktops.
