Capcom's Golden Age: Driven by Monster Hunter Wilds and Future Prospects

Capcom is currently enjoying a period of remarkable success, often referred to as its "golden age."  This resurgence is largely attributed to the phenomenal performance of titles like Monster Hunter Wilds.

Released just weeks ago, Monster Hunter Wilds quickly became Capcom's fastest-selling title ever, surpassing eight million copies sold in a mere three days and garnering widespread critical acclaim.  This impressive launch signifies a significant commercial achievement, generating substantial revenue for the Japanese publisher.

In a recent interview, Ryozo Tsujimoto, senior producer of Monster Hunter and recently appointed Chief Product Officer at Capcom, acknowledged the company's current prosperity.  He expressed a strong desire to maintain this momentum, stating, "Capcom is going through a golden era, and we must do everything we can to ensure this continues." This sentiment is shared by Takayuki Nakayama, who described the current climate as "a very exciting time" to be contributing to Capcom's development projects.

This recent success comes after a period of less successful titles. Games like Resident Evil 6 and Revelations 2 underperformed, but Capcom turned the tide with hits such as Resident Evil 7 and Monster Hunter World.  The recent release of Dragon’s Dogma 2, which sold over 2.5 million units, further solidifies their successful streak.

The continuation of this "golden age" hinges on the performance of future releases. While rumors of Resident Evil 9 circulate, concrete details remain scarce.  However, Capcom recently renewed the Dino Crisis trademark, sparking excitement and speculation among fans. With new Onimusha and Okami titles also in the pipeline, the possibility of a new Dino Crisis game, or at least a remastered version, is a tantalizing prospect.
