The Xbox Game Pass library continues to grow with the addition of Shady Part of Me, the eleventh new title to grace the service in January 2025.

Developed by the Parisian studio Douze Dixièmes (French for "twelve tenths"), Shady Part of Me is a puzzle platformer that initially launched without prior announcement at The Game Awards in December 2020.  Publisher Focus Home Interactive released the title across PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

Four years after its initial release, Shady Part of Me arrived on Microsoft's subscription service on January 29th.  Available on PC, consoles, and via Xbox Cloud Gaming for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, the game is also accessible to those on the standard Game Pass tier.

Shady Part of Me offers a unique gameplay experience, placing players in control of a young girl and her shadow as they navigate surreal, dream-like environments. The game blends 2D and 3D traversal and puzzle-solving mechanics, complemented by a time-rewinding feature that encourages experimentation. The protagonist's voice is provided by Hannah Murray, recognized for her role as Gilly in HBO's Game of Thrones.

Upon release, Shady Part of Me garnered positive acclaim, achieving a "Strong" rating on OpenCritic with an average score of 77 and a 77% reviewer recommendation rate.  Critics lauded its emotionally resonant story, diverse puzzles, and distinctive watercolor-style visuals, solidifying its reputation as a standout horror puzzle platformer.

Shady Part of Me concludes the January 2025 additions to the Xbox Game Pass Standard library.  However, the PC and Ultimate tiers will receive two more day-one releases: Sniper Elite: Resistance on January 30th and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector on January 31st.

Following these additions, six titles will depart the service on January 31st: Anuchard, Broforce, Darkest Dungeon, Death's Door, Maquette, and Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem.  The Game Pass library will then expand further on February 4th with the arrival of Ubisoft's Far Cry New Dawn.
