The next update for World of Warcraft: The War Within, Patch 11.1.5, is on the horizon, bringing a wealth of exciting content for players to explore.  Key features include the new Nightfall public scenario, the Dastardly Duos event, and the return of Horrific Visions, a challenging solo experience first introduced in Battle for Azeroth.

While the initial reveal highlighted these additions, a recent discovery on the Public Test Realm (PTR) points to another significant feature: Winds of Fortune.  This system grants players a substantial experience buff, making it an ideal time to level up alternate characters.

The Winds of Fortune buff, currently active on the PTR as “Winds of Mysterious Fortune”, provides a 20% experience boost for levels 10-80, a 200% reputation boost for Dragonflight factions, and a 100% boost for The War Within factions.  Additionally, completing quests and defeating enemies in these expansions' zones will reward players with Mysterious Satchels containing gear, cosmetic items, or consumables that enhance combat performance and experience gain.  There's even an indication of a daily bonus available to players.

Details on how the Winds of Fortune system will function remain unclear.  Whether it will be a limited-time event or a permanent feature is yet to be confirmed, though the former seems more probable. It could also become a recurring event, similar to the Joyous Journeys buff in World of Warcraft Classic, potentially focusing on other past expansions or future content releases.

When combined with existing experience boosts, such as the Warband bonus, the Draught of Ten Lands potion, and the Darkmoon Faire buff, Winds of Fortune will offer players an impressive cumulative bonus of 65%.  This makes Patch 11.1.5 a prime opportunity for players looking to level new characters or catch up on alts.

Although Blizzard hasn't announced an official release date for Patch 11.1.5, speculation points towards a late April release, potentially around April 22nd.  This aligns with the typical eight-week cadence between major patches.  Furthermore, a splash screen on the PTR suggests that Children's Week, which begins on April 28th, will occur after the patch's launch, adding further weight to this prediction.
