Following the intriguing subtitle reveal during Sony's January 2024 State of Play,  rumors surrounding Death Stranding 2: On the Beach are swirling once more.  Initially unveiled at the 2022 Game Awards, this highly anticipated sequel to Hideo Kojima's unique delivery adventure is expected to launch in 2025, alongside Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima sequel, Ghost of Yotei.

The original Death Stranding captivated audiences with its star-studded cast, featuring Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux, Mads Mikkelsen, Margaret Qualley, and even the likenesses of directors Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn.  Death Stranding 2 continues this trend, with confirmed returning actors Reedus and Seydoux, joined by newcomer Elle Fanning.  Furthermore, directorial cameos are set to continue with George Miller and Fatih Akin lending their appearances.

While much of the gameplay remains shrouded in mystery,  recent leaks from French publication Dealabs Magazine, known for their accurate previous leak of the game's subtitle, suggest that pre-order details are imminent.  Two editions, a standard edition priced at $70 and a collector's edition at $230, are reportedly in the works.  The contents of the collector's edition remain undisclosed, but the price point suggests substantial inclusions.

The emergence of these pre-order details fuels speculation that a concrete release date announcement is on the horizon.  Given Kojima Productions' independent status, questions regarding launch platforms persist.  The arrival of Death Stranding: Director's Cut on Xbox last year prompts speculation about a potential simultaneous launch for the sequel on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox consoles.  A PC release also seems likely, considering the shrinking PC port windows for several recent PlayStation titles.

All eyes are now on Hideo Kojima's upcoming appearance at SXSW 2025.  Fans eagerly await potential gameplay reveals and, most importantly, the long-awaited release date confirmation.  With the leaked pre-order information adding fuel to the fire, anticipation for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach reaches a fever pitch.
