GTA 5 Enhanced PC Launch Met with Mixed Reception, Players Plan Farewell Tours

The recently released PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced has received a mixed reception on Steam. Players have voiced concerns over several issues present at launch.

Intended to align with the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions, Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced debuted on PC on March 4th.  The updated edition boasts enhancements such as new vehicles, expanded wildlife, GTA+ membership integration, ray-tracing capabilities, and even visual effects not present in the console versions. These additions arguably position the PC version as the definitive experience of Rockstar's open-world classic.

Despite the upgrades, the launch hasn't been smooth sailing. The game's 'Mixed' review status on Steam reflects widespread player dissatisfaction. At the time of writing, only 51% of the over 12,200 reviews are positive, marking it as the lowest-rated Rockstar title on the platform, even falling behind the poorly received Grand Theft Auto 3 - The Definitive Edition.  While concurrent player counts have peaked at a respectable 187,059, the negative reviews paint a concerning picture.

Many players are planning “one last drive” through San Andreas in anticipation of the eventual release of Grand Theft Auto 6.

The negative reviews aren't merely the result of disgruntled fans awaiting news of GTA 6. Legitimate complaints include the absence of text chat, account migration issues, and significant performance problems. These issues have understandably dampened the enthusiasm for what should have been a celebratory release.  Hopefully, Rockstar will address these problems with future updates.

The negative reviews highlight several key issues.  Missing features like text chat, problems with account migration, and substantial performance issues are common complaints. These problems have unfortunately tarnished what should have been a positive launch.  The community hopes that Rockstar will address these concerns promptly with future updates.

Meanwhile, development on Grand Theft Auto 6 continues, with a 2025 release date still on the horizon.  Speculation and rumors regarding a second trailer for GTA 6 continue to circulate, with some fans anticipating an April 2025 reveal, although this remains unconfirmed by Rockstar.
