Capcom Promotes Monster Hunter Rise Producer to Chief Product Officer
2025-03-04 02:56:07Capcom has announced the promotion of Ryozo Tsujimoto, the senior producer behind the hit game Monster Hunter Rise, to the position of Chief Product Officer (CPO). Tsujimoto will succeed Yoichi Egawa, who is resigning from the role.
This promotion comes after the massive success of Monster Hunter Rise, which quickly became a top-selling title across multiple platforms including Steam and PlayStation. The game's impressive launch, despite some initial technical hiccups, solidified its place as a major win for Capcom and contributed to the continued growth of the Monster Hunter franchise.
Tsujimoto's appointment as CPO is effective April 1, 2025. He will oversee all three of Capcom's Consumer Games divisions, taking responsibility for major franchises such as Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, and of course, Monster Hunter. While he will have overall authority over the Monster Hunter series, his role will likely be less hands-on compared to his previous position as senior producer.
With a career spanning back to 1996, Tsujimoto has a long history with Capcom, starting with arcade games like Battle Circuit. He later joined the planning team for Monster Hunter Freedom and went on to produce Monster Hunter Tri, a title often cited among the best in the series. He continued to rise through the ranks, taking on senior and executive producer roles for subsequent Monster Hunter titles, culminating in his work on Monster Hunter Rise.
Despite the overall success of Monster Hunter Rise, the game's launch wasn't without challenges. Players encountered various technical issues and bugs, including a significant story-blocking glitch. While Capcom has addressed many of these problems, some issues persisted, impacting what was otherwise a highly successful release. Nevertheless, the game has undeniably raised the bar for the franchise, and Tsujimoto's promotion serves as a clear recognition of his contribution to its success.
