The Might and Mastery season has made a splash in Pokémon GO, promising exciting additions and events throughout its run until June 3rd. Among the highly anticipated debuts are Dynamax Legendaries like Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, as well as new Gigantamax forms.  Adding to the excitement, Niantic has confirmed the arrival of another Gen 8 Pokémon: Nickit, and its evolution, Thievul.

The Deep Depths event, running from March 19th to 24th, will mark the debut of this cunning fox Pokémon and its evolved form. During this period, trainers can encounter Nickit in the wild and hatch it from 7 km eggs. Evolving Nickit into Thievul will require 50 Nickit candies. While shiny Nickit won't be available initially,  the event offers increased odds of encountering and hatching shiny Clauncher.  Furthermore, egg hatch distances will be halved throughout the event, making it easier to add new Pokémon to your collection. This exciting event follows closely on the heels of Kubfu's debut, another highly anticipated Gen 8 arrival.

In addition to Nickit's release, the Deep Depths event features both free and paid Timed Research opportunities. The free research offers valuable rewards such as Kubfu candy and event-themed Pokémon encounters. For $2 USD, trainers can purchase a Paid Timed Research, guaranteeing encounters with Clauncher and Nickit, along with two Super Incubators.  Nickit’s arrival was previously teased in the Might and Mastery trailer, much to the delight of fans.  With Pokémon GO's recent storage increase, trainers have even more room to collect their favorite Pokémon, including multiple Nickit and Thievul.

Following the Dual Destiny season and the Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn weekend, which introduced Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon,  this new event aims to provide engaging content for trainers.  The Deep Depths event offers a refreshing change of pace, focusing on new Pokémon encounters and timed research opportunities.
