Unreleased Destiny 2 Heresy Weapons Dropping Early
2025-02-18 22:26:14Destiny 2 players are reporting a surprising discovery: unreleased weapons, likely intended for Act 2 of Episode Heresy, are dropping in various activities. While Episode Heresy has been generally well-received thanks to new content and improvements to activities like Trials of Osiris, it hasn't been immune to bugs.
Several issues have plagued the episode, ranging from broken legacy activities like Onslaught: Salvation to visual glitches like invisible weapons and malfunctioning buffs. However, the latest reported glitch seems to benefit players rather than hinder them.
Reports are surfacing on the Destiny 2 subreddit showcasing these unanticipated weapon drops. Players are sharing screenshots of weapons like the Void fusion rifle 'Afterlight,' the kinetic grenade launcher 'Boondoggle Mk. 55,' and the Void energy bow 'Anamnesis.'
While these weapons appear as '???' in the Destiny Item Manager, they are fully functional, some even dropping with unique perks. The source of these premature drops appears to be linked to Episode Heresy's core mechanic: the Tomb of Want.
Players suggest that slotting the first box of the Tomb of Want with Episodic Weapons while leaving the second box empty has resulted in these unreleased weapons dropping. The use of Essence of Desire may also be a factor, though the process appears somewhat random and isn't guaranteed to work.
It remains to be seen how Bungie will address this situation. The studio is currently grappling with numerous issues, including the aforementioned gameplay bugs and the recent overbuff of the Hunter's exotic Radiant Dance Machines leg armor.
