Pokemon Legends: Z-A Leak Hints at New Mega Evolution for Victreebel

A recent leak surrounding the highly anticipated Pokemon Legends: Z-A suggests a classic Pokemon, Victreebel, will be receiving a brand-new Mega Evolution.  Last month's trailer generated considerable excitement, showcasing the starter Pokemon trio and teasing other creatures inhabiting the game's rendition of Lumiose City. Now, it appears Victreebel is poised for a significant power boost.

The Pokemon Company and Game Freak have already revealed a diverse roster for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, including Mega Evolutions for fan-favorites like Lucario, Charizard, and Gardevoir.  The trailer also highlighted Kalos region Pokemon such as Fletchling, Skiddo, and Honedge. However, this new leak points to a Mega Evolution unseen in previous titles.

A prominent leaker, CentroLeaks, recently hinted at this new Mega Evolution for Victreebel in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, citing an earlier teaser from fellow leaker Khu.  A mainstay of the franchise since its early days and a prominent figure in the Pokemon anime, Victreebel notably lacked a Mega form during the 3DS era.  Interestingly, Victreebel makes a brief appearance in the recent Legends: Z-A trailer, seen within a player character's party.

The potential introduction of Mega Victreebel sets an exciting precedent. It could mark the first instance of a brand-new Mega Evolution not originating from earlier Mega Evolution-focused games, suggesting the possibility of more new Megas to come.  With the franchise previously shifting away from Mega Evolutions in favor of mechanics like Dynamax and Terastallization, this inclusion also suggests the potential return of Pokemon from generations eight and nine.

Beyond the return of Mega Evolutions, Pokemon Legends: Z-A promises numerous innovations. It will be the first mainline Pokemon title to feature real-time combat, enabling players and their Pokemon to move and dodge attacks during battles. The game also appears to offer new traversal options, showcasing movement between Lumiose City's streets and rooftops. With its upcoming release, Pokemon Legends: Z-A looks set to propel the franchise in a bold new direction.
