The popular RPG, Genshin Impact, is known for its ever-expanding roster of characters and immersive world.  However, one upcoming character, Ifa, is facing a significant change even before his official release.  His Japanese voice actor is being replaced, sparking discussion and curiosity among the game's community.

While Ifa has yet to make a proper appearance in the game, he has been the subject of much speculation.  Mentioned as early as Version 5.0, with voice-overs hinting at his connection to the Flower-Feather Clan, players were finally able to hear his voice, portrayed by Showtaro Morikubo, in a brief cameo during Version 5.1.  However, developer HoYoverse recently announced a change in voice actors for the character's upcoming official debut.

According to an official announcement on Genshin Impact's Japanese Twitter account, Showtaro Morikubo will be stepping down from the role of Ifa, with Junta Terashima taking his place.  Citing "various circumstances," the announcement did not elaborate on the specific reasons for the change.  This unexpected change comes just before Ifa's anticipated appearance in Version 5.5, scheduled for release on March 26th.

The departure of Showtaro Morikubo, a veteran voice actor known for his iconic roles as Shikamaru Nara in Naruto and Yosuke Hanamura in Persona 4, marks a significant shift for the character.  This news, combined with his recent departure from another popular game, Arknights, has fueled speculation about a potential retirement.  Junta Terashima, Ifa's new voice actor, is known for his work in Boruto and Inazuma Eleven.

Version 5.5 promises a wealth of new content for Genshin Impact players.  Along with Ifa’s debut and the introduction of two new playable characters, Varesa and Iansan, players can explore the new Great Volcano of Tollan region. Several quality-of-life improvements are also planned, enhancing features such as quest tracking and the Artifact system.  These additions, alongside the change in Ifa's voice actor, make Version 5.5 a highly anticipated update for Genshin Impact fans.
