The latest installment in the Indiana Jones franchise, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, has proven to be a massive success, amassing over four million players since its launch in December 2024.

Inspired by the iconic film series, the game takes players on a thrilling adventure between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and The Last Crusade (1989). Players step into the shoes of the legendary archaeologist as he races to stop a nefarious group from harnessing a dangerous ancient power known as the Great Circle.

Available on PC and Xbox Series X/S, and accessible via Xbox Game Pass, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been a hot topic in the gaming world, setting new records and exceeding expectations.

The game's success has sparked discussions about potential sequels. While no official announcements have been made, the impressive player count and positive reception suggest a strong possibility for future installments.

However, any future games will need to carefully consider their settings and narratives to maintain the franchise's integrity and respect for diverse cultures.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed the impressive player count of over four million during a recent earnings report.  The report also highlighted Game Pass achieving a new quarterly revenue record and a substantial growth in PC subscribers, fueled by the success of both Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.  Microsoft cemented its position as the top video game publisher in December 2024, generating over $465 million in revenue.

The game's reach is set to expand further with its upcoming release on PS5 in the first half of 2025.  Initially believed to be a PC and Xbox exclusive, the decision to bring the game to PlayStation was driven by a multiplatform strategy aimed at expanding brand reach and strengthening the overall game experience, according to Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer.

Given the game's rapid rise in popularity, rumors are circulating that Disney is keen on more Indiana Jones games from developer MachineGames.  A late 2024 LinkedIn post from a MachineGames developer hinted at multiple projects in the works, further fueling speculation, although no official confirmation has been given. Many believe a new Wolfenstein title is also under development.
