Steam Doubles Down on Daily Deals: Expanding from 4 to 6 Games

Valve has announced a significant enhancement to its Daily Deals program on Steam, doubling the number of featured games from four to six. This surprise announcement, revealed in a detailed Steam post, highlights the program's success in supporting smaller developers and connecting players with new titles.

Steam, launched in 2003, has become a dominant force in PC gaming, despite competition from platforms like the Epic Games Store and GOG.  Its consistent updates, large-scale seasonal sales, and innovative features contribute to its record-breaking concurrent user numbers, with millions logging in daily. Initially designed for efficient game patching, Steam now hosts a vast library of AAA titles and hidden indie gems.

With thousands of games available on Steam, discoverability remains a challenge for both developers and gamers. Valve's expansion of the Daily Deals program aims to address this, providing greater visibility for smaller titles and offering players a wider selection of discounted games.

According to Valve's blog post, the Daily Deals program significantly boosted the visibility of 2,843 games from 1,160 developers and publishers on the Steam homepage in 2024.  By increasing the number of daily deals to six, Valve hopes to further amplify this impact, showcasing both new releases and older titles.

While Steam hosts numerous sales throughout the year, locating the Daily Deals can be tricky. Users can find these deals, marked with a "Today's Deal" tag, in the "Special Offers" section, located just below the "Featured & Recommended" section on the Steam homepage. Though labeled "Daily Deals," these discounts often extend beyond 24 hours, though their prominent placement on the homepage lasts only a day.

The exact date for the expanded Daily Deals implementation remains unclear, as Steam currently features four games.  However, Valve has outlined its 2025 sale schedule, with the Spring sale starting on March 13th and the highly anticipated Summer sale launching on June 26th, alongside various smaller sales throughout the year.
