Sneak and Shoot: Midnight Murder Club Launches Early Access on PC and PS5

Velan Studios' highly anticipated first-person shooter party game, Midnight Murder Club, is set to launch into early access on March 13th for both PC and PlayStation 5. Initially revealed in June 2024 as a hide-and-seek experience for up to six players, the game was originally scheduled for a December 2024 release on Steam.  However, players were treated to a crossplay beta and the exciting news of a PS5 release instead.

A new trailer showcased at The Game Awards 2024 shed light on the intriguing gameplay. Set within a sprawling, pitch-black mansion, Midnight Murder Club challenges players to navigate using only the beams of their flashlights.  The catch? Turning on your light exposes your position to enemy gunfire.  This strategic element encourages players to rely on their hearing and proximity chat to maneuver through the labyrinthine halls and rooms.

Following its initial delay, Midnight Murder Club's early access period offers Velan Studios a valuable opportunity to gather player feedback as they explore and battle their way through the ominous Wormwood Manor.  PS5 players will need a PlayStation Network account, a PS Plus membership, and an active internet connection to join the “shooter-in-the-dark” experience.

Midnight Murder Club already boasts four distinct gameplay modes: Free for All, Thief in the Night, Team Deathmatch, and Headhunters, all of which were available for testing during the crossplay beta.  The early access launch will introduce a brand new game mode called Wildcards.  In this mode, players select cards that modify the rules for the entire party, adding layers of unpredictability and excitement.  These wildcard effects range from exploding upon death to granting all players super speed.  New cards are awarded after each match, further amplifying the chaotic fun.

To facilitate group play, Velan Studios has also announced the Midnight Murder Club Guest Pass Edition. This edition allows a single player to invite up to five friends to join them at no extra cost, removing the barrier to entry for those hesitant to purchase a new game.  The Guest Pass Edition offers unrestricted access to all game modes in both public and private matches.  Pricing and the duration of the early access period remain undisclosed at this time.
