Call of Duty: Warzone has seen its fair share of map rotations.  Players can soon revisit the game's inaugural map, Verdansk, which is returning after a hiatus.  Developer Activision has confirmed that the map has been meticulously reconstructed using modern technology, offering a fresh perspective on this beloved battleground.

In a recently released behind-the-scenes video, Activision showcased the development process, highlighting the technological advancements that have revitalized the original 2020 map.  The team focused on preserving the classic Warzone feel while enhancing the overall experience.

The remastered Verdansk boasts upgraded rendering technology, leading to significant improvements in visual fidelity.  Environmental elements like grass, foliage, terrain, and water appear more realistic and detailed, complete with enhanced physics.  Lighting has also undergone a significant overhaul, with multiple iterations to achieve the desired atmosphere.  A new high-resolution skybox, improved reflections, enhanced lightmapping, and smoother indoor-outdoor transitions further elevate the visual presentation.  Shadows, backlighting, and interior lighting have also been substantially improved.

Activision confirmed the collaborative efforts of Beenox, Raven Software, and High Moon Studios on this ambitious project.  By leveraging cutting-edge technology, these studios aimed to create a version of Verdansk that is "better than ever" while remaining faithful to Infinity Ward's original 2020 vision.

The revitalized Verdansk map is set to deploy in Call of Duty: Warzone on April 3rd.
