The upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown has released a playable demo on PC via Steam.  This limited-time trial coincides with the 2025 Steam Next Fest and offers players a first look at the turn-based combat mechanics.

Originally announced in December 2024, Tactical Takedown marks a departure for the TMNT franchise, introducing turn-based strategy gameplay.  Developer Strange Scaffold, known for titles like Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator, had initially projected a 2025 release window, which has now been reaffirmed.

This demo, described by Strange Scaffold as the "first public demo", allows players to experience the unique gameplay mechanics and get a taste of the storyline.  Fans can try out the demo until March 3rd, as part of the Steam Next Fest event, which highlights upcoming indie titles.

Tactical Takedown features a more mature take on the iconic heroes.  Set in a time after the death of both Splinter and Shredder, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo face new challenges and a new leader of the Foot Clan. The game promises dynamic levels that mutate with each turn, forcing players to adapt their strategies on the fly.

With 20 levels and campaigns focusing on each turtle, Tactical Takedown aims to offer a varied and engaging experience.  While currently announced for PC only, previous Strange Scaffold titles have seen console releases, leaving the door open for potential ports down the line.  Although pricing remains undisclosed, based on Strange Scaffold’s past releases, it is likely to be competitively priced.
