After nearly 12 years of exploring San Andreas in Grand Theft Auto 5 and its online counterpart, the community finds itself at a crossroads.  With the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 on the horizon, some players are eager to transition to the new installment, while others remain devoted to the familiar streets of Los Santos and Blaine County.

The upcoming sequel promises a return to Vice City, Rockstar Games' reimagining of Florida, in the fictional state of Leonida.  Following the immense success and critical acclaim of GTA 5, expectations for GTA 6 are sky-high.  The community is already preparing for the shift, with some players planning a symbolic farewell to San Andreas months before the new game's launch.

The planned "one last drive" conceived by Reddit user Accomplished-Hat5373 and other community members will follow a major highway traversing Los Santos and Blaine County.  This final journey allows players to soak in the iconic sights and scenery of San Andreas one last time. However, the idea sparked debate. Some argue that GTA 5 remains relevant even after GTA 6’s release, questioning the necessity of a farewell tour.

The “last drive” initiative has ignited a discussion about the longevity of GTA 5. A segment of the community is ready to move on completely, eager to experience the fresh content promised by GTA 6.  The scarcity of official news and gameplay details for the sequel has further fueled this sentiment.

Conversely, other players plan to revisit GTA 5 after GTA 6’s release to compare the two games and appreciate the over-a-decade of post-launch support that GTA 5 has received.

Ahead of GTA 6's anticipated fall 2025 release, GTA 5 is receiving a significant upgrade on PC.  This upgrade will bring features and enhancements previously exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, including support for upscaling technologies like AMD FSR 3 and Nvidia DLSS 3. Ray tracing and other advanced features will also be implemented, increasing the PC version's hardware requirements. The PC update is scheduled for release on March 4th.
