The recently released demo for Mecha BREAK, the upcoming multiplayer third-person mech shooter from Amazing Seasun Games, has garnered significant attention on Steam, boasting surprisingly high player counts shortly after launch.  However, the initial wave of enthusiasm has been tempered by mixed player reviews, highlighting some key concerns.

Announced during The Game Awards 2023, Mecha BREAK's reveal trailer showcased dynamic gameplay, sleek mech designs, and intense combat, capturing the interest of many gamers. The Global Storm open beta, which began on February 23, 2025, for PC and Xbox Series X|S, saw the Steam demo quickly climb the charts, peaking at over 317,000 concurrent players. This placed it among the top played games on the platform, just behind giants like Counter Strike 2, PUBG: Battlegrounds, and Dota 2, and even surpassing popular titles like Marvel Rivals.

Despite the impressive initial player numbers, the demo's reception has been polarized. Player reviews on Steam paint a mixed picture, with a significant portion expressing dissatisfaction. Two primary issues have emerged: a lengthy and perceivedly ineffective tutorial, and the implementation of Kernel Level anti-cheat software.

Many players report that the tutorial, including mandatory AI matches, takes close to an hour to complete while providing insufficient information.  The use of Kernel Level anti-cheat, known for its deep system access, has also drawn criticism from a segment of the gaming community.

Beyond these two major concerns, some players have reported bugs and performance issues, attributing them to the game's beta status. However, positive reviews highlight the exciting gameplay, comparing it to a fusion of Titanfall's fast-paced action, Armored Core's customization, and the iconic mech designs of the Gundam franchise.  These players remain optimistic about the final product's potential.
