Rare's third-person action-adventure game, Everwild, first unveiled in November 2019, has faced a somewhat turbulent journey, including a reported complete reboot. The subsequent scarcity of updates led some to speculate about the game's potential cancellation.

Recently, however, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer addressed these concerns, confirming that Everwild is still in active development during an interview on the XboxEra podcast.

When asked which in-development first-party titles he was most anticipating, Spencer highlighted his recent visit to Rare and expressed his enthusiasm for the progress the Everwild team is making. He emphasized the importance of affording development teams the necessary time and resources, stating, "It’s been great to be able to give those teams time to do what they’re doing, and we still have a portfolio like we do. It's kind of a dream that Matt [Booty, Head of Xbox Game Studios] and I have had for a long time, so it’s nice to finally be there, where we can give those teams the time."
