God of War Sequel Rumored to Explore Kratos' Relationship with His Father in Greece

Initial rumors suggested the next God of War installment would take Kratos to Egypt for a new adventure. However, reputable industry insider Tom Henderson recently disputed this claim on his podcast, stating the series will return to Greece, delving deeper into Kratos' complex relationship with his father.

According to Henderson, the new God of War will feature a younger Kratos, exploring his relationship with his father.  It remains unclear, however, whether this "father" refers to Zeus, the king of the Olympian gods, or his mortal Spartan father.

As established in the original trilogy, Kratos is the demigod son of Zeus and a mortal Spartan woman named Callisto.  Initially unaware of his divine parentage, Kratos and his brother were raised by their mother in Sparta.

The God of War series showcases a tumultuous father-son dynamic between Kratos and Zeus, marked by betrayal, revenge, and ultimately, Kratos killing Zeus in God of War 3.

This fuels speculation that the new game could be a prequel, exploring the events before the original trilogy, or perhaps even a reboot of the franchise.  With rumors of a State of Play event next week, fans eagerly anticipate news about the next God of War title.
