Mario & Luigi: Brothership Update 1.0.1 Addresses Game-Breaking Bugs
2025-02-20 02:56:03The highly anticipated RPG, Mario & Luigi: Brothership, has received its first update since its release last November. Patch 1.0.1 addresses several significant bugs that ranged from minor visual glitches to game-stopping issues.
The update is available worldwide and is a crucial download for players. Prior to the patch, certain bugs could completely halt progress, including a misplaced boss battle in the Color-Full Sea Great Lighthouse and an issue with repeatedly calling Luigi in the Skorcheen Island cave.
A notable feature in Mario & Luigi: Brothership is Luigi’s increased autonomy, not only aiding players but also deepening his character development. Called 'Luigi Logic', this mechanic allows Luigi to independently solve puzzles, gather items, and provide support in various ways. This marks a significant evolution for the often-overshadowed brother, granting him a more active and insightful role in the gameplay.
Another serious bug involved the Battle Plug Countdown to Crush, where simultaneous challenge completions could soft-lock the game. Less impactful but still frustrating bugs included zero experience gain under specific conditions, like defeating a Mega Snaptor with the Surprise Iron Ball while equipped with the Coinpiler. A fix also ensures players now correctly receive a Luck Charm DX for achieving 100 or more points in the Hammer Rally minigame.
Since its debut in 2003 with Superstar Saga, the Mario & Luigi series was developed by AlphaDream. Following AlphaDream's bankruptcy in 2019, the series' future was uncertain. Nintendo nearly shelved the beloved franchise but ultimately decided to entrust development to Acquire, the studio behind titles like Akiba's Beat and Octopath Traveler. This collaboration has breathed new life into the series, delivering a well-received entry that pleases both fans and Nintendo.
