Marvel Rivals Players Debate Magneto's Reload Mechanic

The popular hero shooter Marvel Rivals, currently in the midst of its Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, has sparked a debate amongst its players concerning the reload mechanic of Magneto's Iron Volley ability.

Players argue that the attack's slow projectile speed coupled with the reload requirement hinders Magneto's damage output, especially when compared to characters like the recently introduced Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman.  With the upcoming arrival of Human Torch and The Thing, the balance discussion becomes even more relevant.

Magneto, classified as a Vanguard in Marvel Rivals, is designed to absorb damage and protect teammates using abilities like Metallic Curtain, a defensive barrier that blocks projectiles, and a damage-mitigating bubble. However, players feel his offensive capabilities are lacking.

The discussion originated on Reddit, where a player suggested removing the reload requirement for Iron Volley.  This ability launches magnetic orbs that deal damage based on distance from the target.  The argument posits that eliminating the reload would compensate for the slow projectile speed and increase Magneto's overall damage output, putting him more in line with other damage dealers.

This sentiment resonates with many players who find certain reload animations within the game jarring.  While the need for Punisher to reload his firearms feels logical, the idea of Groot reloading his tree limbs or Storm reloading her weather-based powers seems less intuitive.  The comparison extends to Scarlet Witch, whose magical attacks require no reload, contrasting with Doctor Strange, who does have to reload.

These reload mechanics likely stem from NetEase Games' efforts to balance the roster and prevent certain characters from becoming overpowered.  However, players believe Magneto's current state requires adjustment.

This isn't the first time Magneto's abilities have come under scrutiny. Players have previously criticized his ultimate ability, Meteor M, which absorbs projectiles but can overload, negating its damage entirely.  Suggestions range from removing the overload mechanic to increasing its absorption capacity or implementing an automatic launch upon reaching the limit.

While the community awaits NetEase Games' response, the discussion highlights the ongoing dialogue surrounding character balance and the desire for Magneto to receive a boost in effectiveness.
