The captivating turn-based RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is set to launch on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on April 24th, 2025.  This highly anticipated title, revealed during the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, promises a unique gaming experience, blending stunning visuals with innovative gameplay.

Developed by French studio Sandfall Interactive, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 immerses players in a world inspired by the French Belle Epoque. The game's narrative centers around Expedition 33's mission to vanquish the enigmatic Paintress and end her reign of painted death.

The voice cast of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 boasts a notable debut, with one actor taking on their first ever video game role. This adds another layer of intrigue to a game already generating significant buzz, reminiscent of the fan engagement surrounding Baldur's Gate 3.

Microsoft's recent Xbox Developer Direct confirmed the game's day-one arrival on Game Pass.  The developers also highlighted the unique abilities of each party member and cited influences from classic RPGs like Final Fantasy and Persona.

For players without Game Pass, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will be available for $50.  Sandfall Interactive explained this pricing decision as a balance between their independent studio status and a desire for greater accessibility compared to the typical $70 price tag of many AAA RPGs.  They also estimated a playtime of at least 30 hours, with additional optional content further enriching the experience.

The 2025 Game Pass lineup is shaping up to be exceptional, with several other highly anticipated day-one releases.  These include Obsidian's Avowed (February 18th), Compulsion Games' South of Midnight (April 8th), and id Software's Doom: The Dark Ages (May 15th). This impressive roster doesn't even include third-party day-one titles like Eternal Strands (January 28th) and Atomfall (March 27th).
