Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb to Receive DLSS 4 and RTX Hair Support in February Update

Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb was among the first 70 games announced to support Nvidia's DLSS 4 technology.  Following the recent Cyberpunk 2077 update that added DLSS 4 support for RTX 50 series cards, fans have been eagerly awaiting a similar update for Indiana Jones.  The game already benefits from Nvidia DLSS Super Resolution, Frame Generation, Reflex low latency, and Path Tracing (full ray tracing).

The official statement reads: "Update 3 will launch in February and include support for the latest NVIDIA Blackwell Architecture GPUs (50 series), various new graphical features and options and bug fixes, particularly some that were preventing some players from 100%ing the game, climbing ropes in Sukhothai or squeezing through walls."

While MachineGames didn't specify the exact features, it's anticipated that the update will incorporate NVIDIA DLSS 4 multi-frame generation technology and the new RTX Hair system. The former is expected to provide further performance boosts for the already well-optimized title, while the latter is a key component of the updated RTX toolkit.

With its new graphics cards, Nvidia introduced Linear Sphere Scanning (LSS), a GPU-accelerated primitive that minimizes the geometry required to render hair. LSS uses spheres instead of triangles to more accurately match hair shapes.  According to Nvidia, LSS enables ray-traced hair with improved performance and lower memory footprint.

RTX Hair is part of Nvidia's RTX Character Rendering SDK, which will be available later this month. While RTX Hair is set to debut in Indiana Jones in February, no titles have yet announced support for the SDK's other major feature, RTX Skin rendering. However, it's known that RTX Skin will be available as part of RTX Remix.
