Days Gone Remastered: Horde Assault Mode and New Features Revealed
2025-04-10 10:35:04Days Gone Remastered has unveiled exciting details about its Horde Assault mode, one of the standout features in the upcoming remaster. Alongside this adrenaline-pumping addition, Days Gone Remastered—scheduled for release on April 25, 2025—will also introduce Permadeath and Speedrun modes, offering players new ways to test their survival skills.
Originally launched as a PS4 exclusive in 2019, Days Gone received mixed reviews at first but gradually built a passionate fanbase. These dedicated players have long campaigned for a sequel, though Sony has yet to greenlight one. However, the announcement of a PS5-exclusive remaster during the February 2025 State of Play livestream reignited excitement. Bend Studio is now preparing to deliver an enhanced version of their post-apocalyptic adventure, featuring upgraded visuals and bonus content.
On the PlayStation Blog, Bend Studio detailed how Horde Assault extends the original Days Gone experience with an extra 10 hours of gameplay. Players must survive waves of increasingly dangerous enemies, including Reachers, Breakers, and Rager bears, while utilizing over 20 weapons—such as a flamethrower—and 24 gameplay modifiers called Injectors. These modifiers include "Exploding Freakers," which cause enemies to detonate upon death, and "Wanted," ramping up the difficulty from the start. A new trailer showcases Deacon, Boozer, and others battling through chaotic hordes.
Horde Assault begins in the Cascade region of Days Gone's map, with players armed only with a sidearm. After surviving initial waves, they gain access to the Drifter bike, allowing them to scavenge for Supply Boxes that provide random weapons. Side Jobs offer additional resources and XP, while a 35-level reward path unlocks cosmetic patches, playable characters like O'Brian and Lisa, and a "highly requested" bike-related item.
With Days Gone Remastered launching soon on PS5, anticipation is building. PC players won't miss out either, as the Broken Road DLC will bring these new modes to the PC version on the same day.
