World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.5 Nightfall: New Content and Events Overview
2025-04-09 02:39:17On April 8, Blizzard announced that World of Warcraft Patch 11.1.5, Nightfall, would go live on Tuesday, April 22, following a period of server maintenance. The Nightfall update for World of Warcraft will see changes to the Hallowfall zone as the war between the Arathi and the Sureki intensifies, with various events scattered over the ensuing weeks to tide players over.
Patch 11.1.5's namesake will be the main attraction of the content update, as the Nightfall campaign will give players an additional way to claim new gear. This gear can be obtained by helping the Flame's Radiance faction defend Hallowfall and Azj-Kahet from the Sureki, a splinter group of Nerubians loyal to the late Queen Ansurek, one of the antagonists of The War Within's opening act. Additionally, a new cooldown manager interface option will give players a new way to track abilities and spells without needing add-ons. The Winds of Mysterious Fortune event will also begin on April 22 and last until May 20, giving players a way to level up quickly.
Over a month after first revealing what players can expect in the Nightfall update, Blizzard confirmed that parts of Patch 11.1.5 will also be spread out. April 22 will be the start of the Nightfall update. A month later, on May 20, the Horrific Visions Revisited event will go live. A returning feature from the Battle For Azeroth expansion, Horrific Visions allows one to five players to experience alternate versions of Stormwind and Orgrimmar that have been corrupted by the Old God N'Zoth. Despite being illusions, these Horrific Visions are another place where World of Warcraft players can claim gear up to the Heroic raid level.
Players going at it alone can also invite a follower NPC to fulfill the role of Tank, Healer, or DPS as needed. Both solo and group-focused players can find various Horrific Vision Masks to augment the difficulty of a Vision instance. Players will earn Displaced Corrupted Mementos as a currency that can be redeemed for mounts, weapon enchantments, and other collectibles.
A new PVE-focused challenge called Dastardly Duos will run from June 3 to July 15, which will pit World of Warcraft players against some past dungeon and raid bosses. As the name implies, two or more bosses can be fought simultaneously, adding a wrinkle to combat. Patch 11.1.5 will also include various quality of life changes, such as customizing the colors of item quality by rarity as players see fit.
Patch 11.1.5 is the first spring entry in World of Warcraft's 2025 roadmap, with Patch 11.1.7 planned in the months ahead. Only time will tell how players will respond to the Nightfall update.
