Sega has announced the inaugural Virtua Fighter Open Championship, marking the first official global tournament for the legendary fighting game series. This competition will utilize *Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown*, which launched to critical acclaim on PC via Steam earlier this year.

The tournament will feature regional qualifiers across four major regions: North America, Europe, Japan, and Asia (excluding Japan).  Top contenders from each region will earn a coveted spot in the grand finals, where they'll battle for the ultimate title and a staggering $100,000 grand prize.

Kicking off the tournament series, the North American qualifier will take place at COMBO BREAKER 2025 from May 23rd to 25th, 2025.  Details regarding the remaining regional qualifiers and specific tournament rules will be progressively revealed on the official *Virtua Fighter* portal.
