Monster Hunter: Wilderness Speedrun - 1-Second Hunt Achieved Using New Quest System

The latest installment in the Monster Hunter franchise, Monster Hunter: Wilderness, released in late February, introduces several changes, including a revamped map and quest system.

Recently, a player named "Hozumi" shared a video on YouTube showcasing a method to complete a Great Izuchi hunt in a mere 1 minute and 53 seconds by leveraging the new quest mechanics.

The video demonstrates "Hozumi" strategically employing poison ammo from a ranged weapon to chip away at the monster's health without officially triggering the hunt quest. After weakening the Great Izuchi to near-death, they activate the quest by placing a pitfall trap.  This results in an almost instantaneous hunt completion upon accepting the quest, with a gap of only 1 second between the "Quest Started" and "Quest Complete" messages.

While this clever use of the new quest system doesn't reduce the actual time spent hunting, it does raise questions about the significance of speedrunning for players aiming to minimize hunt times. Achieving a "1-second" hunt could potentially diminish the sense of accomplishment for those dedicated to optimizing their hunting strategies.
