Monster Hunter: Wilderness' Mosquito-Like Monster Sparks Controversy
2025-02-17 12:21:04Monster Hunter: Wilderness is set to launch on February 28, 2025. While playtests haven't showcased all the monsters revealed in trailers, the upcoming Numafura Dragon, resembling a giant mosquito, has already generated significant buzz – and not all of it positive. Some players have expressed strong disapproval of the creature's unusual appearance.
In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, game director Yukya Detida addressed the mixed reactions to the Numafura Dragon. "I'd just like to say some people think it’s cute!" Detida remarked. "We’ve seen all the comments, and while some players are eager to hunt it down the moment the game releases, many others find it cool and endearing. We've even seen some adorable fan art!"
Detida further explained the design rationale behind the Numafura Dragon, emphasizing the positive feedback received internally. "The designers are thrilled with how it turned out – I mean, they see it as cool and cute. So reactions have been quite varied. I think, compared to previous games, the monster's unique design has sparked a different level of discussion. That's definitely a success in terms of our design goals!"
