Wuthering Waves Offers 30 Free Tides Following Anniversary Backlash
2025-04-22 04:27:13In response to player dissatisfaction after its anniversary celebration, Kuro Games' hit gacha title Wuthering Waves is distributing 30 free Tides to all players. Despite its massive success since launching in mid-2024, the recent anniversary livestream left many fans disappointed, prompting this compensatory gesture.
Since its May 2024 debut on PC and mobile, Wuthering Waves has generated over $62 million in its first month for Chinese developer Kuro Games. While initial reviews highlighted bugs and technical issues, the game's engaging combat and rich worldbuilding won over players. The upcoming Steam release on April 29 will introduce cross-platform progression, expanding the game's accessibility.
Community Response to Anniversary Event
The anniversary livestream faced significant backlash for lacking substantial reveals, while the in-game rewards were deemed underwhelming. Kuro Games publicly apologized via Twitter, acknowledging the community's frustration. As compensation, players now receive 10 Radiant, 10 Forging, and 10 Lustrous Tides—enough for 30 pulls across the game's banners. However, some argue this doesn't guarantee high-tier characters.
Upcoming Content and Collaborations
Version 2.3 will feature dual anniversary banners: the 5-star Zani alongside 4-stars Lumi, Taoqi, and Yuanwu in the first phase, followed by 5-star Ciaccona with Danjin, Yangyang, and Mortefi. Kuro Games also teased a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners crossover in 2026, though specifics remain unconfirmed—whether as playable characters or a new in-game zone.
