Guilty Gear Strive continues to be a popular fighting game, currently in its fourth season of post-launch content. Season 4 surprised fans with the announcement of Lucy from Cyberpunk Edgerunners as the game's first guest character. While her Summer 2025 release is still far off, the initial reveal sparked mixed reactions, from excitement to disappointment.

In an interview, Guilty Gear Strive producer Ken Miyauchi revealed the story behind Lucy's inclusion.  The team had been seeking a guest character since Season 2, and CD Projekt RED was their first choice.  Initially, the plan was to integrate Ciri from The Witcher, driven by Strive's lead artist, Sakamura Hidehiko, who is a big fan of the series.

However, through ongoing discussions, the focus shifted to Cyberpunk Edgerunners.  While Lucy might not be known for combat prowess, Miyauchi stated the team enjoyed bringing her to life within the Guilty Gear universe.  He also expressed openness to further collaborations in the future.

While fans await Unika and Lucy, the latest addition to the Season 4 pass is Venom, a returning character.  He retains his classic billiards-themed moveset and pool cue weapon, with a new twist: he is now accompanied by Robo-Ky in battle.
