Leaked footage, seemingly from the opening cinematic of Ubisoft Annecy's unannounced “Project U,” has surfaced online. The video, shared by leaker Shaun Weber, showcases a distinctive animated style.

Reports from late last year indicated the project, after five years of development, had returned to an “incubation phase,” signifying a potential overhaul.  Internally referred to as “Pathfinder,” the project aimed to offer a fresh take on the PvPvE genre.

Sources indicate the game faced repeated delays and escalating costs due to challenges in achieving satisfying replayability. After five years without meeting expectations, Ubisoft reportedly halted active development. However, instead of outright cancellation, “Project U” returned to an internal incubation team, reflecting Ubisoft's continued belief in the potential of PvE experiences.

The team reportedly cited  The Division 2 as a prime example of a successful PvE game that could thrive in the current gaming landscape, potentially informing the direction of “Project U's” redevelopment.
