Battlefield Labs Closed Beta Starts March 7th: Shaping the Future of Battlefield

EA's innovative program, Battlefield Labs, is set to launch its closed beta on March 7th.  This initiative provides a platform for the Battlefield development team and dedicated fans to collaborate on in-game concepts before public release.

First announced in September 2024, EA's public playtesting program for the Battlefield franchise now takes shape with Battlefield Labs.  This closed beta will offer select players the chance to test and provide feedback on features in development for the next Battlefield installment.  The initial announcement generated significant interest, leading to a massive influx of applicants eager to participate.

The first wave of playtests, welcoming thousands of long-time fans and newcomers, is scheduled for the first week of March across North America and Europe.

According to Insider Gaming, EA recently emailed participants invited to Battlefield Labs detailing the March 7th playtests.  The initial closed beta will focus on testing “concepts and mechanics” and will be conducted on PC with sessions lasting approximately two hours.  Participants have agreed to a “closed test environment,” prohibiting recording or streaming of the playtest sessions.

While the initial phase of Battlefield Labs includes a limited number of participants in select regions, EA plans to expand the program to tens of thousands of players globally in subsequent playtests. This collaborative approach seeks to align the development of the next Battlefield title with player expectations, potentially avoiding issues experienced with previous releases, such as Battlefield 2042.

With playtests imminent, further details are expected to emerge soon. Following the initial feedback from these beta sessions, EA may also announce the in-development Battlefield title, tentatively slated for release in fiscal year 2026, as indicated in the company's recent earnings call.
