The official announcement of the anime adaptation during the Genshin Impact Version 3.1 Special Program in 2022 generated immense excitement.  However, the subsequent lack of updates from developer HoYoverse and Ufotable has left many fans wondering about the project's fate, with some even speculating about potential cancellations or delays.  This silence drew comparisons to the 2020 Nintendo Switch announcement, which, despite confirmation, has yet to materialize.

A recent revenue report indicating a significant drop in Genshin Impact's February 2025 sales compared to the previous month added to the speculation surrounding the anime's development.

Amidst the uncertainty, a Reddit user, SunSAndMoonSOf5, brought a glimmer of hope to the community.  They discovered that Ufotable's latest job listing included Genshin Impact among its current projects. This seemingly minor detail reignited excitement and reassured fans that the anime adaptation is still alive.

Some speculate that HoYoverse may be waiting for the release of all seven regions of Teyvat before premiering the anime.  With six of the seven nations already available in-game, only Snezhnaya remains.  Based on HoYoverse's typical update schedule, Snezhnaya is projected to arrive around August or September 2025.

Rumors surrounding the Genshin Impact anime suggest that each major region may receive its own dedicated season.  Another leak hinted at the anime potentially depicting Teyvat before the Traveler's arrival. However, this contradicts the reveal trailer, which featured the game's protagonist twins.  Fans eagerly anticipate the exploration of iconic past events, such as the Archon War and the fall of Khaenri'ah, within the anime adaptation.
