A prominent Call of Duty: Warzone leaker has sparked speculation about the future of the game's upcoming map, Avalon. The leak suggests that Avalon's release might be scrapped or postponed to prioritize the highly anticipated return of the original Warzone map, Verdansk.

This potential shift in plans aligns with the expected arrival of Verdansk alongside the Season 3 update.  The leaker also hinted at the possibility of Avalon being repurposed as an Outbreak Zombies map for the rumored 2025 Call of Duty title, tentatively referred to as "BO7."

The rumored cancellation of Avalon comes amid reports of Verdansk's return, a move likely aimed at pleasing the large portion of the Warzone community that favors the original map. This echoes a previous strategy employed with Modern Warfare 3, where Urzikstan was relaunched as the primary battle royale map instead of introducing a new one following the Black Ops 6 integration.

The return of Outbreak Zombies mode in the 2025 Call of Duty installment has been previously reported. While initial rumors pointed towards dedicated maps, including a "Tranzit-inspired" environment, Activision's evolving plans might see the integration of Avalon into this open-world Zombies experience. This would mirror the utilization of Urzikstan in MW3's Zombies mode, leveraging the vast landscape to enhance gameplay.

Activision's apparent focus on ensuring a smooth return for Verdansk suggests a commitment to delivering nostalgic content, potentially including classic weapons, operators, and features.  This dedication to community-favored elements seems to have taken precedence over the introduction of a brand new map.
