The rumored cancellation of Avalon comes amid reports of Verdansk's return, a move likely aimed at pleasing the large portion of the Warzone community that favors the original map. This echoes a previous strategy employed with Modern Warfare 3, where Urzikstan was relaunched as the primary battle royale map instead of introducing a new one following the Black Ops 6 integration.

The return of Outbreak Zombies mode in the 2025 Call of Duty installment has been previously reported. While initial rumors pointed towards dedicated maps, including a "Tranzit-inspired" environment, Activision's evolving plans might see the integration of Avalon into this open-world Zombies experience.
