Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.2: Mount Summoning on the Move and Other Quality-of-Life Enhancements
2025-03-20 06:59:34Patch 7.2 for Final Fantasy XIV brings a welcome change for players: the ability to summon mounts while moving in any area where fast travel is permitted. This impactful quality-of-life improvement arrives with the major content update on March 25th.
The upcoming Patch 7.2, titled 'Seekers of Eternity,' is a significant update for the Dawntrail expansion. It includes new Main Scenario quests, the second installment of the Arcadion raid, and sets the stage for future content like Cosmic Exploration, the Occult Crescent, Hildibrand quests, and more.
A less-heralded but equally convenient feature in Patch 7.2 is the ability to summon mounts without coming to a complete stop. Previously, any movement during the one-second casting time would cancel the summon. Director and producer Naoki Yoshida acknowledged the potential challenge of breaking players' 10-year habit of stopping to summon, but expressed hope that the community will appreciate the newfound fluidity.
This update also introduces a passive 'Jog' buff. After the Sprint ability expires, players will automatically transition into a jog, providing a moderate speed boost without a time limit. Jogging is applicable in most areas, including cities, zones, and instances, but is deactivated during combat. Full details about this feature will be available in the official patch notes.
These quality-of-life enhancements arrive alongside the main features of Patch 7.2 on March 25th. A 24-hour maintenance period is expected before the update goes live. Players participating in the Moogle Treasure Trove event, claiming PvP rewards, or completing other time-sensitive tasks should plan accordingly.
