The highly anticipated Version 2.2 update for Wuthering Waves is bringing a brand new 5-star character to the roster: Cantarella. Confirmed by the developers through a series of official announcements, this Havoc unit wields a Rectifier, making her the first character with this unique element and weapon combination.

Cantarella hails from Rinascita and is the thirty-sixth head of the Fisalia family, a detail reflected in her striking, jellyfish-themed design, notably her umbrella.  While earlier leaks hinted at the simultaneous release of Aero Rover,  official confirmation for Rover's return and elemental alignment remains pending.

Players were first introduced to Cantarella in the recent story trailer, where she is seen conversing with Rover about the enigmatic Sea of Ghosts. The trailer also featured other characters like Zani, Cartethyia, Phrolova, and the rumored Ciaccona, possibly hinting at their future inclusion in the game's expanding roster throughout the 2.0 cycle.

With several Resonators expected throughout 2025, players are hopeful for a steady stream of new units.  However, based on Kuro Games’ typical release cadence, Cantarella may be the sole new character introduced in the 2.2 update. This news, while exciting, leaves some fans curious about the playable debut of other anticipated characters, particularly Zani, who was featured prominently in early Rinascita marketing alongside Carlotta and Brant.

Version 2.2 of Wuthering Waves is slated for release in the final week of March.  The previous 2.1 update demonstrated Kuro Games’ commitment to community feedback by incorporating several highly requested features, such as the Echo Loadout system – a feature notably absent in competitors like Genshin Impact, where players have long requested a similar Artifact loadout function.
