The popular co-op shooter Helldivers 2 continues to deliver exciting content for its players. Following the recent conclusion of the Meridia storyline, a developer has teased the arrival of a new crossover event, leaving fans buzzing with anticipation.

Released in February 2024, Helldivers 2 quickly gained traction, selling over 12 million copies within three months.  Players team up to defend Super Earth from alien threats and spread managed democracy across the galaxy. Now, with the Meridia storyline wrapped up, all eyes are on what comes next.

The hint of a new crossover event came from developer Sephez on Discord, stating that they are "in the very early stages of something new."  This has fueled speculation among fans.  Some believe a Warhammer 40K crossover is imminent, citing a leaked weapon silhouette resembling the franchise's iconic Chainsword. However, Arrowhead Game Studios has yet to confirm these rumors.

This isn't the first crossover for Helldivers 2.  A previous collaboration with Killzone 2 introduced weapons and armor inspired by the Sony FPS.  Collecting all the cosmetic items from the Killzone 2 crossover required 1,975 Super Credits (approximately $19.99). This successful event has players eager to discover which universe will be featured next.

Beyond crossovers, Helldivers 2 has received consistent updates, including balancing adjustments, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements. Even the recent temporary removal of the Terminid enemies contributes to the ongoing refinement of the game.  This latest tease of a crossover event provides yet another incentive for players to continue their mission of spreading freedom across the galaxy.
