Excitement for GTA 6 is reaching fever pitch, but managing expectations for the 2025 release is crucial. One of the biggest questions revolves around connections to GTA 5, including the potential return of familiar characters.  Actor Steven Ogg, who brought the chaotic Trevor Philips to life, offered a playful suggestion in an interview with Screen Rant. He mused that it "would be fun" for Trevor to make a brief appearance in GTA 6, only to be killed off early in the game.  This would be a darkly humorous callback to GTA 5, where Trevor's introduction involves eliminating a character from a previous GTA title.

While no returning characters from GTA 5 have been officially confirmed for GTA 6, the first trailer revealed a female protagonist named Lucia, residing in Vice City – the GTA universe's vibrant, neon-drenched take on Miami, Florida. Other details remain scarce, including the male protagonist's name and Rockstar's plans for a second trailer.  The lack of official information has fueled fan speculation and theories about the next trailer's release, though these often prove unfounded. With a fall 2025 release window in sight, the arrival of Trailer 2 is inevitable.
