Claim Shiny Meltan and Keldeo in Pokémon Home with Extensive Pokédex Completion

2025-02-13 04:25:44

Pokémon Home players can now add Shiny Meltan and Shiny Keldeo to their collections, although obtaining these Mythical Pokémon will require dedicated Pokédex completion. These special distributions are tied to achieving 100% completion in certain regional Pokédexes within Pokémon Home.

Keldeo, the Colt Pokémon, debuted in Pokémon Black and White and is the fourth member of the Swords of Justice, alongside Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion. While its Resolute Form change upon learning Secret Sword is purely cosmetic, its Mythical status makes it a prized possession.  Meltan, the Hex Nut Pokémon, originated in Pokémon GO and later appeared in Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!.  It can evolve into Melmetal, but only within Pokémon GO using 400 Meltan Candy.

As reported by various gaming outlets, acquiring Shiny Meltan and Shiny Keldeo requires specific Pokédex achievements.  For Shiny Meltan, trainers must complete the Kanto Pokédex using Pokémon from Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!. Shiny Keldeo requires completing the Galar Pokédex, including entries from the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLC, within Pokémon Sword and Shield. Notably, this marks the first legitimate opportunity for trainers to obtain a Keldeo, as it's typically Shiny-locked.

Completing the Kanto Pokédex requires registering all 150 Pokémon.  The Galar Pokédex is significantly larger, requiring 400 base game entries plus an additional 210 each from the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLCs, totaling 820 Pokémon. Transferring Pokémon caught in other regions into Let's Go or Sword and Shield will not count towards these totals.  All Pokémon must originate from their respective games.

While the task is substantial, there's no deadline for these Pokédex completion challenges.  Trainers can work towards completing these requirements at their own pace. This event coincides with other ongoing Pokémon Home distributions and the excitement surrounding upcoming Pokémon Day festivities, contributing to a busy and rewarding start to the year for Pokémon fans.
