Ghost of Yotei will feature the beloved Guiding Wind navigation mechanic, as revealed in the game's newest trailer. This innovative system, first introduced in Ghost of Tsushima, uses visual wind trails to guide players without intrusive HUD elements.

Originally launched in 2020, Ghost of Tsushima received widespread acclaim for its artistic direction and immersive navigation system. When Sucker Punch Productions announced the sequel in September 2024, fans wondered whether the Guiding Wind would return in Ghost of Yotei.

The April 23 trailer confirmed Ghost of Yotei's release date and settled the debate about the Guiding Wind's return. In the trailer's closing moments, protagonist Atsu approaches a ginkgo tree near Mount Yotei, with distinctive white wind trails swirling around her—clearly showcasing the return of this signature navigation system (visible at the 2:51 mark).

Prior to this confirmation, there was significant speculation about potential replacements for the Guiding Wind. Some fans theorized that the wolf companion hinted at in earlier teasers might serve as a new navigation tool. However, Sucker Punch ultimately chose to maintain this beloved feature while introducing other innovations.

The Guiding Wind was integral to Ghost of Tsushima's identity and immersion, making its return in Ghost of Yotei a logical decision. The sequel will still distinguish itself through new features like dual-wielding katanas and ōdachis, a fresh setting, and a protagonist (Atsu) who appears less bound by honor than Jin Sakai.

Ghost of Yotei launches on October 2, with pre-orders opening May 2. The game will be available in Standard ($69.99), Digital Deluxe ($79.99), and Collector's Editions (price TBA).
