Diablo 4 Season 7: Positive Reception, But Pacing Debate Continues

Diablo 4's seventh season, Season of Sorcery, has been met with a generally positive reception from players. While some remain dissatisfied with certain aspects of the update (a recurring theme with live service games), the return of Witch Doctor-inspired abilities has been widely praised, even though the Witch Doctor class itself hasn't officially returned.

With the increased challenge and depth introduced in this season's gameplay loop, Diablo 4 appears to be regaining its footing after previous seasons' 'fast-food' approach to grinding alienated some veteran players. Blizzard is, however, still gathering data to confirm the success of these adjustments.

Rod Fergusson, General Manager of Diablo, initiated a Twitter poll regarding Season 7's pacing, seeking to find "the sweet spot of efficient but not enraging gameplay" (a goal he jokingly admitted was likely "impossible").

Players could choose from three options: Too Fast, Too Slow, and Just Right.  The poll results revealed:

- 39.3% of players found the pace "Just Right"

- 39.8% still felt it was "Too Fast"

- 20.9% considered it "Too Slow"

Intriguingly, billionaire entrepreneur and frequent online commentator Elon Musk joined the conversation, stating that the pace "seems about right."  It's worth noting that Musk recently admitted to paying others to play Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2 for him – hopefully, those players also shared their genuine feedback on the game's balance.
