Teardown Adding Multiplayer This Spring
2025-03-15 12:43:22Tuxedo Labs has announced that their destructible voxel heist game, Teardown, will receive a significant update this spring: multiplayer. Released in 2022, Teardown has captivated players with its unique gameplay centered around meticulously planned heists in fully destructible environments.
Since its launch, Teardown has enjoyed a steady stream of both free and paid updates, expanding the game with new maps, playable characters, and a creative mode. These additions have offered players even more opportunities to experiment with the game’s impressive array of destructive tools. Free updates have introduced new characters, while paid DLCs have brought new maps and environments.
The upcoming multiplayer update, announced in a recent video, promises to be a game-changer. The video showcases the game’s signature destruction physics and recently added characters, but details regarding the multiplayer implementation remain scarce. This marks the first major update for the acclaimed immersive sim this year.
Beyond multiplayer, Teardown's roadmap outlines further developments, including DLC 3, DLC 4, and the intriguing "QUILEZ R0113R ROBOT" update, featuring a spawnable robot. While it remains unclear whether DLC 3 is synonymous with the multiplayer update, this seems improbable given the historical precedent of paid Teardown updates focusing on new maps. Two previous DLCs, Time Campers and Folkrace, have already been released. While the base game boasts "Very Positive" reviews on Steam, both DLCs currently hold "Mixed" reviews, with some players citing concerns over their pricing in comparison to the base game.
The introduction of multiplayer is one of Teardown’s most requested features and has generated considerable excitement. With a constant flow of updates since launch, Teardown has continued to refine its gameplay and expand its world. While additional content is always welcome, new features like multiplayer stand to fundamentally enhance the game experience. Despite mixed reception to some of the paid DLC, Teardown consistently ranks among the best heist games currently available.
