Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket Introduces Long-Awaited Trading Feature
2025-01-29 15:16:46After nearly three months since its official release, the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has finally introduced the much-anticipated card trading feature.
An update released today for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket app announced the arrival of the “Trading” feature among other new content (requiring a manual app update to access). The new A2 expansion packs, “Time-Space Showdown Dialga” and “Time-Space Showdown Palkia,” are slated to release on January 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM (update times may vary depending on the device).
Currently, the new “Trading” feature only supports exchanges between friends, with both players needing to be above level 3. Traded cards will retain their original language, enabling players to exchange cards from different regions. Furthermore, any special effects equipped on a card will not be transferred with the card itself. These effects will remain available to the original owner even if they no longer possess the card.
The official announcement states that card trading is currently restricted to cards of the same rarity. Trading higher rarity cards requires “Trading Tokens,” which can be acquired by exchanging cards with a rarity of 3 stars or higher through the “Get Items” feature or by completing event tasks. Trading also requires “Trading Power,” a mechanic similar to the “Challenge Power” in the “Card Challenge” mode. Trading Power replenishes over time and can also be restored by spending in-game gold or hourglass items.
