Days Gone Remastered promises a transformative experience for PlayStation 5 players. Originally launched on PS4 in 2019 and later ported to PC in 2021, the game is now poised to leverage Sony's cutting-edge hardware. Bend Studio has teased substantial improvements that aim to redefine this post-apocalyptic adventure.

The remaster was unveiled during PlayStation's February 2025 State of Play, with an April 25 release date. While fans were disappointed by Sony's rejection of a sequel, the announcement of Days Gone Remastered sparked renewed excitement. This enthusiasm was evident in the strong pre-order performance, signaling high expectations for the upgraded version.

The remaster introduces additional trophies beyond the original game's set, offering both veterans and newcomers fresh challenges to conquer.

In a PlayStation Blog interview, Bend Studio's creative lead Kevin McAllister highlighted the remaster's tangible improvements. Beyond visual upgrades like enhanced lighting, shadows, and fog effects, he emphasized the expanded scale of Freaker hordes. McAllister also detailed Days Gone Remastered's Horde Assault mode, where players will face unprecedented swarms—some exceeding 800 enemies.

McAllister explained how the PS5's hardware elevates Days Gone's already impressive realism. However, the remaster isn't just a graphical overhaul. It includes meaningful gameplay refinements and 10 hours of new content, featuring additional weapons and locations that expand the original experience.

Alongside Horde Assault, the remaster introduces Speedrun Mode, which meticulously tracks playtime while excluding cutscenes. While designed for PS5, these improvements will also benefit PC players through the Broken Road DLC, launching simultaneously on April 25, 2025.
